Hurricane Dorian Evacuation Order:

Due to projected storm surge, potential partial power shutdown and anticipated flooding of low-lying areas of Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Col. Clinton Ross, 633rd Air Base Wing commander is issuing a mandatory evacuation to the nearest “safe” available accommodations for those residents’ on Langley Air Force Base, living in Lighter-Than-Air, Heavier-than-Air housing and lodging effective immediately.

All residents mentioned are required to evacuate the installation by 5 p.m. Sept. 5, 2019. Armistead gate will be the only base access after that point, until further notice.

An updated installation services hours listing will be made available on social media as soon as possible.

“The safety of our Airmen and families of Joint Base Langley-Eustis is of utmost importance for the command team and we know this evacuation may be difficult on families,” said Ross. “Our team has been working hard to gather all our base resources to help assist in this evacuation as needed.”

Liberal leave is authorized starting Sept. 5, if approved by and coordinated through your supervisor. DoD civilians who work at Langley are authorized administrative leave beginning Sept. 6, 2019.

Effective immediately, 633 ABW/CC and AFPC have ordered the stop movement of all military and civilians with a projected TDY or PCS to Langley AFB.  This stop movement remains in effect until further notice. 

The Safe Haven location shall not exceed 750 miles and should be located outside of the designated evacuation area, in a “safe” location.

Per Diem entitlements that are paid to each evacuee are as follows; transportation and per diem en-route, Lodging and meals/incidental expenses at safe haven location. Lodging is paid for commercial quarters and must be documented by receipt and are mandatory for reimbursement.
