  • ACC commander speaks on Fighter Roadmap at AFA ‘21

    The Air Force must continue to rebalance its fighter portfolio investment in order to keep pace and compete with China, according to the commander of Air Combat Command. During his keynote presentation at the Air Force Association 2021 Air, Space and Cyber Conference, Sept. 22, Gen. Mark Kelly said today’s fighter force was designed for a different peer adversary, built for a different time, and utilized in a different place and manner than originally planned.
  • Gen. Kelly Speaks on Accelerating Change Across the Air Force at AFA Virtual Event

    During the 2021 Virtual Aerospace Warfare Symposium, Gen. Mark Kelly, commander of Air Combat Command, shared remarks during the panel on “Accelerating Change Across the Air Force,” Feb. 25, 2021. Kelly discussed how ACC is working to accelerate change to remain relevant and credible for both today’s and tomorrow’s fight. In addition, he emphasized the Air Force should make significant changes to instill a warrior culture and harness the importance of the electromagnetic spectrum for the future of warfare.
  • ACC to conduct experiment testing agility and lead wing concepts during AGILE FLAG 21-1

    Air Combat Command will conduct an experiment known as Agile Flag 21-1 from Oct. 21-29 to test agile combat employment and a new lead wing deployment concept. During Agile Flag 21-1, the 366th Fighter Wing from Mountain Home AFB, Idaho, will test its ability to deploy as a lead Air Expeditionary Wing with a wing-level air staff. The unit will employ mission generation, command and control, and base operating support elements from its main operating base at Tyndall AFB, Florida, while supporting a forward operating base at Hurlburt Field, Florida, and a contingency location at Eglin AFB, Florida.

    Fifteenth Air Force activated Aug. 20, integrating wings and direct reporting units from 12th Air Force and Ninth Air Force to form a new numbered air force responsible for generating and presenting Air Combat Command’s conventional forces.
  • ACC commander visits flying wings

    Gen. Mike Holmes, the commander of Air Combat Command, recently visited ACC flying wings one last time to connect with Airmen and aircrews. The visit was planned to provide commander’s intent regarding training priorities, share information about recent mishaps with instructors and leaders, and update Airmen on challenges facing ACC and the Air Force.
  • ACC commander accepts Order of the Sword recognition

    The commander of Air Combat command accepted the invitation for the Order of the Sword on July 28, 2020, at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. Gen. Mike Holmes will be the ninth ACC commander who has earned the honor of being recognized by the command’s enlisted members as a “leader among leaders” and an “Airman among Airmen.”
