Steve Hinton lives in Newport Beach, CA and is married to Karen. They have two children, Steven and Amanda.
He has a two-year degree in Commercial Aviation from Mt. San Antonio College.
He is president of The Air Museum "Planes of Fame" since 1994, a board member since 1971. The Air Museum is a 45-year-old non-profit corporation that acquires, restores, and displays over 120 aircraft and exhibits at Chino, CA and ValleGrand Canyon, AZ. Currently operating 30+ aircraft from the 1930's through the 1950's (fighters and bombers).
He is owner of Fighter Rebuilders since 1980. Fighter Rebuilders consults, restores, and fly's fighter and bomber aircraft for collectors as well as museums in the U.S. and Great Britain. Since 1980 Fighters Rebuilders has done 40 major restorations.
He is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and the Motion Picture Pilots Association.
He has been a motion picture pilot since 1977 working as a pilot or coordinator for filming of television and motion pictures, supporting 4-5 projects a year.
He is an Unlimited Air Racer with six unlimited victories and his first unlimited race was in 1975. He is the unlimited national champion 1978 in the Red Baron, and in the Super Corsair in 1985. World speed record holder from 1979-1989 at 499 mph in the Red Baron RB-51 at Tonopah, NV on Aug 14, 1979. Retired from racing 1990.
First introduced to high performance aircraft in 1972 with the P-51. T-33 and F-86 LOA in 1974. Flew the T-33, F-86, and P-51 for Bob Hoover to events in the summer of 1974. Flown in air shows and events since 1972, and training and recommended pilots for LOAs in various aircraft since 1975.
Airshow performer in U.S., Europe and Japan.
Member of USAF Heritage Flight air show demonstration group since 1999.
He has flown over 150 types of aircraft. Some of the aircraft flown include: T-33, Convair 240-340-440, B-25, B-26, P-38, NA265, DC-3, B-17, TBM, L-18, F-86, MIG-15/17, F-5, T-38 and many others.
