AMIC COMMUNICATIONS - ELECTRONICS SYSTEMS MISSION

Posted 3/28/2007 Printable Fact Sheet

The Ground Radar System is the radar operations and maintenance focal point for ACC AMIC. The programs managed by the squadron such as the Hemispheric Radar System (HRS) and Tethered Aerostat Radar System (TARS) provide critical radar surveillance data from systems spread across the southern United States, Caribbean, and northern South America. The continued use of these systems requires modifications, upgrades, and modernization to assure the system can support increasing operational demands. SCM is heavily involved in the planning, programming, implementation, testing, and acceptance phases of these efforts.

The PSC branch provides life-cycle management for the following radar systems:
- Ground-based
- AN/TPS-43E
- AN/TPS-70
- Airborne
- L-88A
- L-88(V)3
- DPS-5
