BRIG. GEN. RUSSELL L. MACK

Brigadier General Russell L. Mack is  Inspector General, Headquarters Air Combat Command, Joint Base Langley- Eustis, Virginia. He leads more than 160 experts responsible for conducting more than 75 inspections annually. By spearheading both a rigorous inspection schedule and an open-compliant resolution process, General Mack ensures combat readiness, regulatory compliance, and oversight for more than 225 active and gained units and more than 130,000 Airmen.

A graduate of the University of New Hampshire in Durham, N.H., General Mack received his commission through the Officer Training School program in 1988. During his career General Mack has served as F-15E electronic warfare officer, A/OA-10A/C replacement training unit instructor pilot, U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds right wingman pilot and Commander of the 71st Flying Training Wing. He served as Vice Commander of the 52nd Fighter Wing, Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, and 455th Air Expeditionary Wing while deployed to Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. General Mack has staff experience as Military Assistant to the Deputy Secretary of Defense, and as Director, Secretary of the Air Force and Chief of Staff of the Air Force Executive Action Group, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Pentagon,  Washington,  D.C. General  Mack  also  completed  a  National  Defense  Fellowship  at  the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA.

Prior to his current assignment, General Mack served as the Vice Commander, 7th Air Force, Air Forces Korea, and Chief of Staff, Air Component Command, Osan Air Base, South Korea. He is a command pilot with more than 3,600 flying hours in the A/OA-10A/C, F-15E, F-16C/D, T-38A/C and T-37, and has combat tours in Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Southern Watch, and Enduring Freedom.
