NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. --

Combat search and rescue is an operation that is carried out within or near combat zones.

A CSAR mission may be carried out by a task force of helicopters, ground-attack aircraft, aerial refueling tankers and an airborne command post.

Search and rescue operations during Red Flag improve efficiency and readiness for future real-world operations.
