  • ACC to conduct experiment testing agility and lead wing concepts during AGILE FLAG 21-1

    Air Combat Command will conduct an experiment known as Agile Flag 21-1 from Oct. 21-29 to test agile combat employment and a new lead wing deployment concept. During Agile Flag 21-1, the 366th Fighter Wing from Mountain Home AFB, Idaho, will test its ability to deploy as a lead Air Expeditionary Wing with a wing-level air staff. The unit will employ mission generation, command and control, and base operating support elements from its main operating base at Tyndall AFB, Florida, while supporting a forward operating base at Hurlburt Field, Florida, and a contingency location at Eglin AFB, Florida.

  • U.S. Air Force Transports Large Field Hospital to Jamaica Donated by Southcom to Support Island’s COVID-19 Response

    A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircraft transported a large mobile field hospital from Joint Base Charleston, S.C., to Kingston, Jamaica in the Air Force South AOR on Sept. 19, where it will be donated to healthcare providers and used to support the Caribbean nation’s ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

    An Air Traffic Control Letter of Agreement was signed by U.S. personnel, the Qatar Emiri Air Force (QEAF) and Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) to better work together to ensure safe air space operations at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar.
  • Special Tactics unit surpasses 6,900 days combating war in Middle East

    For the men and women of the 17th Special Tactics Squadron, since their initial response to the GWOT there have been no breaks in deployments and combat operations for over 6900 days in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, FREEDOM’S SENTINEL and RESOLUTE SUPPORT. In order to be welcomed into the Special Tactics community, aspiring conventional TACP Airmen undergo a harrowing week-long assessment at Hurlburt Field, Florida. The assessment is designed to test the candidates limits and determine if they have what it takes to join the ranks within ST. Candidates are then are hand-selected into the 17th STS.     Service members of Air Combat Command welcomed their new commander during a change of command ceremony Aug. 28 at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. Gen. Mark Kelly took command from Gen. Mike Holmes during a ceremony presided over by Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Charles Q. Brown, Jr. who shared some words of encouragement to Kelly and highlighted his accomplishments.
