    Al Dhafra Air Base, located on the Arabian Peninsula in the United Arab Emirates, is key to ensuring stability in the Middle East by delivering decisive airpower, defending the region, and developing relationships with coalition partners. The security of its assets and personnel is critical to the successful execution of these missions. This responsibility lies with the 380th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron and its unique teams of experienced defenders.

    F-35A Lightning II pilots assigned to the 4th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron flew their first combat sortie in the U.S. Air Forces Central Command area of responsibility April 26, 2019, Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates. The fleet of F-35s deployed from active duty 388th and reserve 419th Fighter Wings at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, for the first time in Air Force history. The aircraft is deployed to the U.S. Air Forces Central Command area of responsibility for the first time in U.S. Air Force history. The 380th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron worked diligently to prepare the fighters the first combat mission.

    Every other month the 380th Expeditionary Force Support Squadron hosts a Food Forum meant to engage the base populous and encourage feedback on the current operations within the various dining facilities on base. Change is possible, but if they are unaware of the need, they can’t work to make it happen.

    U.S. Air Force’s F-35A Lightning II arrives for first Middle East deployment

    The U.S. Air Force’s fifth generation multi-role aircraft arrived for its first deployment to the Middle East on April 15, 2019. The F-35A Lightning IIs are from active duty 388th and reserve 419th Fighter Wings at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. As the first deployment to the U.S. Air Forces Central Command area of responsibility, crews are prepared and trained for the AFCENT mission.

    Depot Liaison Engineer – Why the middle man?

    The 380th Expeditionary Maintenance Group hosts one of only five Depot Liaison Engineer (DLE) positions within the Air Force Central Command area of responsibility. “I have a pretty boring job if there are no aircraft broken – which is fine, we accept that.” said 1st Lt.     UTANG Airmen far from home, bringing the fight

    Whether sailor or soldier, active duty or Air National Guard, an enlisted member or a field-grade officer, military members are part of something bigger, and regardless of status, everyone contributes to the mission of the United States. Far from home in a deployed environment, many components make up the complex, yet dynamic mission. Members of the Utah National Guard, also known as UTANG, are one of those key components here at Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates. These Airmen deployed from the 109th Air Control Squadron in Salt Lake City, Utah.

In order to provide 24/7 operations at Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates, 380th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron’s night shift members provides maintenance inspection to keep the E-3 Sentry Airborne Warning and Control System in air.

    Controlling Aircraft ‘Beyond Line of Sight’

    One of the assets flying missions from Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates, is the EQ-4 Global Hawk. This remotely piloted aircraft required coordination with other bases to control it in air but, by utilizing technology this process can now be conducted locally.
