  • NC leaders experience Razor Talon firsthand

    Two groups of distinguished visitors came to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina to view Razor Talon firsthand, Sept. 16, 2016. Razor Talon is a monthly, large-force, training exercise for joint East Coast tactical and support aviation units. This monthly exercise allows service members unique opportunities to combine land, air and sea forces from all service branches in a realistic training environment.
  • Aircrews 'test the waters' during SERE training

    Moody aircrew members received training on water survival techniques to familiarize themselves with equipment and ways to survive in water in the event of ejecting from an aircraft. Aircrew members must be trained every 36 months to maintain proficiency. The training consisted of unharnessing parachutes during drag and drops, parachute disentanglement and navigating rafts to be rescued to return with honor.

  • Guardian Angel Combat Leaders Course put into action

    It takes countless years of career field education, multiple deployments and temporary duty assignments to become a pararescue team leader. The 68th Rescue Flight executed a 65-day course for ten pararescuemen in a newly-designed course to develop their leadership abilities while obtaining their 7-level certification for their dynamic career field.
  • EMT Rodeo 2016

    U.S. Air Force Emergency Medical Technicians gathered to compete in the 9th annual Air Force Medical Service EMT Rodeo at Cannon Air Force Base, N.M., Aug. 24-27, 2016. The two and a half day competition involved 24 EMT teams from across the Air Force, both CONUS and OCONUS installations challenging one another for the title of the “Best of the Best” emergency medical teams. Each team consisted of four Airmen who were scored collectively on their timeliness, technique and accurate decision making during multiple high-stress emergency scenarios both in-garrison and in a simulated deployed environment.

  • 1,000th pilot tames U-2 Dragon Lady

    The U-2 Dragon Lady reached a milestone in its 61 years of service Aug. 31, 2016, here, qualifying Maj. J.J., 1st Reconnaissance Squadron student pilot, as the 1,000 pilot to operate the aircraft. J.J. completed his first solo flight to become a part of the select few who have tamed the Dragon Lady. He still has key components of the program to complete before he is a fully-qualified U-2 pilot, such as training and flying in the full-pressure suit, flying at 70,000 feet and operating the mobile chase car.
  • 693rd ISRG increases capabilities during Red Flag 16-3

    The 693rd Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Group participated in a recent Red Flag 16-3 exercise at the Nevada Test and Training Range of Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., July 11-29. The mission of Red Flag is to provide unrivaled air, space and cyber combat power for America by combining available assets to create a realistic air, ground and space threat environment for combat training. This exercise provides a forum for face-to-face exchange of ideas and lessons learned between joint and combined forces.
