HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. --

The 705th Training Squadron, Hurlburt Field, Florida, provided critical Air Operations Center command and control training during the Combined Command Post Training exercise 21-2 at Osan, Air Base, Korea, Aug. 10-26.

The CCPT exercise program was designed to sharpen operational capabilities of the Combined Forces Command Commander and staff, and synchronize warfighting efforts of CFC’s air, ground, maritime, marine and special operations components.

The primary training audiences for CCPT exercise 21-2 were the CFC and associated components including the Combined Air Component Command constructed of Republic of Korea Air Force and Air Forces Korea Forces, the 7th Air Force, and the 607th Air Operations Center.

In September of 2000, the U.S. Air Force declared the AOC, a weapons system. Through the evolution of the AOC, a baseline for AOC systems and C2 knowledge were mandated. This baseline was created through the 505th Training Squadron, Hurlburt Field, Florida, formal training unit and advanced academics courses provided by both the 505th TRS and 705th TRS.

“Although each AOC might have different operating procedures, the basic doctrine and application of AOC operations must be understood to perform peace time, disaster relief and contingency operations,” said Michael Steinkraus, 705th TRS subject matter expert. “The 505th Command and Control Wing is a linchpin in this continuity of instruction, from basic to advanced training of operators and air component senior leaders.”

The 705th TRS C2 training imparts doctrinal understanding and the ability to apply it to daily air component operations to the training audience.

“Given our unique training, 13O graduates, or Multi-Domain Warfare Officers, worked along the seams of the AOC processes to ensure coordination and synergy among the divisions,” said Lt. Col. Benjamin Lee, 705th TRS director of operations.

The 705th TRS Multi-Domain Warfare Officers and Operational Command Training Program’s training continue to prove critical in preparing USAF operational C2 personnel to inform joint and coalition senior leaders and lead AOC warfighters for complex scenarios such as CCPT 21-2.

“Through their outstanding performance across the 607th AOC, 13O graduates demonstrated the importance of continuing to deliberately develop all-domain operational warriors,” said Lt. Col. Marcus Bryan, 705th TRS commander. “The 13O program continues to be vital to the ongoing development of air operations in support of the joint fight.”
