  • Deforestation on Tyndall leads to ecosystem restoration

    Beginning Jan. 15, 2020, Tyndall Air Force Base Airmen, the 325th Civil Engineer Squadron natural resources section, and contracted partners will begin planting longleaf pine trees along Highway 98 near Fire Station 4 at Silver Flag Road. This is a partnership between U.S. Air Force service members, Department of Defense contracted employees, and representatives of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

    Delivering superior reconnaissance capability in support of national objectives is one of the 9th Reconnaissance Wing’s main priorities. To accomplish this mission Beale is equipped with reconnaissance aircraft; the U-2 Dragon Lady, the RQ-4 Global Hawk, and aircraft that keep U-2 pilots proficient, like the T-38 Talon. Everyone plays a part in keeping these aircraft in the air, but it all starts on the ground with the 9th Maintenance Squadron aerospace ground equipment (AGE) flight.

    Eight finalists for the 2020 AFIMSC Innovation Rodeo were selected out of 143 submissions and nearly 2,000 online votes to compete for a share of $1 million in funding and resources to implement their ideas. Finalist include Airmen from Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.
