Douglas MacArthur, having received some 70 decorations, a majority for actions in combat. Day died July 27 at the age of 88. His memorial service was attended by nearly 1,000 servicemembers and U.S. Senator John McCain, who was a prisoner of war with Day. (Courtesy photo)
