Chief Master Sergeant Frank H. Batten III is the Command Chief Master Sergeant, Air Combat Command, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA. He advises the commander and staff on matters influencing the readiness, training, professional development and effective utilization of assigned personnel. The command operates more than 1,300 aircraft, 34 wings, 19 bases, and has more than 70 operating locations worldwide with 98,000 active duty and civilian personnel. When mobilized, the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve contribute more than 700 aircraft and 53,000 people to ACC. As the Combat Air Forces lead agent, ACC develops strategy, doctrine, concepts, tactics and procedures for air- and space-power employment. The command provides conventional and information warfare forces to all unified commands to ensure air, space and information superiority for warfighters and national decision-makers. The command can also be called upon to assist national agencies with intelligence, surveillance and crisis response capabilities.
Chief Batten entered the Air Force in May 1988. His background includes various duties in the Aircraft Structural Maintenance career field as well as serving as an assistant first sergeant, flight chief, and group superintendent.
Prior to his current position, Chief Batten was the Command Chief Master Sergeant, Ninth Air Force, Shaw Air Force Base, SC. He has deployed in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, DESERT SHIELD/STORM, and UPHOLD DEMOCRACY.
