D-M team earns AF honors

Members of the 355th Mission Support Squadron's military personnel flight proved they are the best by capturing the title as the best MPF of the Air Force of for 2003.

In 2003, members of the military personnel flight deployed more than 2,580 personnel, helped more than 27,000 customer service walk-ins, and processed 2,500 decorations, 4,400 evaluations, 882 passports, 524 visas, 1,600 reenlistments/extensions and 1,800 out-bound assignments.

It takes a huge amount of sacrifice, a lot of blood, sweat, tears, pride and enthusiasm, teamwork, belief, a will do attitude and an enormous amount of hard work, said Lt. Col. Robert LaBrutta, 355th MSS commander.

But the numbers alone dont represent all the hard work Colonel LaBrutta described. The people who work at the MPF also launched a Personnel Outreach Program designed to help commanders support staffs across the base and initiated the bases first Personnel Deployment Function Junior event, which allows family members to experience the deployment line process.

Members of the flight also earned several awards throughout the year, including several quarterly awards, wing and Air Force Sergeants Association Airman of the Year honors, and the 2003 Tucson Elks Lodge Military Person of the Year.
