Kristin Steinke Nellis AFB Public Affairs NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- The 57th Adversary Tactics Group reached another milestone recently on its path to fully integrating the chief of staff of the Air Force's vision for the group as "Threats Central." Lt. Col. Rudolph Butler III assumed command of the newly formed 57th Information Aggressor Squadron Jan. 30.The activation of the 57th IAS significantly increases the group's ability to replicate the full spectrum of air, surface-to-air, space, and cyberspace threats and train friendly forces to defeat them during major exercises. These exercises include Red Flags here and in Alaska, and Maple Flag, as well as during Aggressor road shows, said Lt. Col. Lisa Onaga, 57th ATG deputy commander. "One of our primary missions will be to identify vulnerabilities and exploit weaknesses in the command and control infrastructure of a base, including network and communication systems," said Colonel Onaga. Members of the 57th IAS will leverage their extensive technological expertise and operational background to teach units how to defend their systems against a complex, constantly expanding information threat. "The 57th IAS is now an integral part of a total force Aggressor team encompassing 10 active duty, reserve, and guard squadrons," she said. Their unique capabilities will help ensure the combat air forces are prepared for combat in the information arena -- now and in the future.
