Life of a Warrior keeping Airmen fit to fight

CREECH AIR FORCE BASE, Nevada -- Keeping Airmen fit to fight and combat ready at all times is a must around the Air Force. For Creech Air Force Base, Nevada, the Life of a Warrior campaign leads the way in offering opportunities for Airmen to stay in tip top shape.

The campaign aims to help Airmen in every pillar of resiliency, spiritual, social, mental, and physical, by providing opportunities to come together, interact, work out, and even compete in friendly competitions.

"Life of a Warrior is a campaign where Airmen are leading Airmen in adopting a mindset where they choose self-investment and self-discipline over self-gratification," said Tech. Sgt. Richard, 799th Air Base Squadron NCO in charge of vehicle operations. "The campaign provides a variety of events, group activities such as physical workouts and social activities that our warriors can utilize to improve  themselves."

Life of a Warrior was launched in 2013 and leaders are trying to make 2016 the best year yet.

"Due to all the change we went through, Life of a Warrior points of contacts such as myself had to reassess the situation, budgeting, and new individuals willing to step up and lead other Airmen," Richard said. "We need to make sure the Airmen know what Life of a Warrior is and why we are doing these activities."

Richard went on to say the Life of a Warrior leaders are planning to restart workout groups such as the running club, cycling club, jiu-jitsu, spin class, TRX training and functional fitness in order to get back on track.

The campaign just restarted its monthly workout event known as Warrior Trained Fitness, an extreme workout activity consisting of different types of exercises such as functional fitness, running, P90x, beach body, and more.

"As long as we have warriors who are willing to step up and lead because they love doing it and not just for another performance report, the campaign will be successful," Richard said. "The result of all this is strong and combat ready warriors who are the backbone of the U.S. Air Force."

Life of a Warrior is a team building opportunity for any Airman to step up and make in investment in themselves and fellow Airmen.

"The Air Force is made up of Airmen and works because of their dedication," Richard said. "These Airmen are going to be leaders and mentors someday. We want to make sure we invest ourselves into the Airmen to make sure they are combat ready, and healthy in all aspects. That's the investment Life of a Warrior is trying to make."
