Strike Eagles return to nest following Hurricane Matthew

F-15E Strike Eagle from the 336th Fighter Squadron lands return to base on Oct. 11, 2016, at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina. More than 40 Strike Eagles were repositioned to Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, ahead of Hurricane Matthew to avoid potential damage from severe weather associated with the storm. 


Portions of the at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina flightline flooded during Hurricane Matthew. According to the National Weather Service, the Neuse River, located just outside the base perimeter, crested at a new record stage of 29.09 feet.
