    Famed World War II P-51B Mustang 'Berlin Express' to make transatlantic flight to perform in England with F-22

    The “Berlin Express” P-51B Mustang achieved legendary status in an epic World War II dogfight in Paris in 1944, piloted by American Bill Overstreet, who flew the aircraft under the Eiffel Tower in hot pursuit of a German fighter.     F-35 makes historic appearance at Paris Air Show

    The U.S. made history when two F-35A Lightning IIs arrived at the Paris Air Show to fly the first public aerial demonstrations here, this week. Pulling off a historic event such as this takes months of careful planning and preparation. This team had only 36 days to make it happen.

    To gain insight and perspective from all Air Force stakeholders, the Air Force Safety Center requests informal comments on the draft revision of Air Force Instruction (AFI) 91-203, Air Force Consolidated Occupational Safety Instruction.  The AFI is the Air Force’s Occupational Safety and Health instruction and defines the Air Force’s minimum

    Ohio National Guard strengthens partnership with allied nations

    Approximately 200 members of the 180th Fighter Wing, 179th Airlift Wing and 107th Cavalry Regiment joined forces joined forces with an additional 200 military members from six allied and partner nations and 10 different airframes from throughout Europe for the two-week exercise, to include Hungary, Croatia, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and the United States.

    726th Air Control Squadron jumps into the future

    The 726th Air Control Squadron received its first major Control and Reporting Center weapons system upgrade in 20 years here, May 30. The TYQ-23A Control and Reporting Center system replaces older and bulkier 1980s style operations modules, allowing command and control operators to control a section of air space and do battle management quicker and more efficiently when called upon.

    Significant changes to Aviation Bonus Program

    As part of its retention efforts, the Air Force released details on the fiscal year 2017 Aviation Bonus Program (AvB) June 5, 2017. This year’s program implements an increase in maximum bonus amounts authorized in the fiscal 2017 National Defense Authorization Act in addition to more flexibility in contract lengths.

    Last refuges for declining, rare, endangered species

    “This area is perfect,” said Karen Terwilliger, a local environmental expert, as she pointed to a part of Langley Air Force Base’s shoreline that provides, not only a natural flood barrier, but a safe area for the Diamondback Terrapin Turtle, a declining species being surveyed at Langley AFB, to lay its eggs.

    366th Medical Group makes MTF Transition

    The 366th Medical Group at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, will soon begin to make what some may see as drastic changes to the services provided here. The facility will transition from an inpatient hospital to an outpatient clinic by mid-summer. “This decision was actually made approximately 17 years ago; it was contingent upon the local hospital becoming civilian accredited by the Joint Commission,” said Col. Andrew Moore, 366th Medical Group commander. “That happened two years ago, and when it happened, we started the process to look at services in our base hospital with regard to what is in the best interest of our patients and the mission.”

    ‘Piering’ into future: Construction to improve fuel operations

    Construction preparations for a new pier, which is used to receive jet fuel, began April 3, 2017. The project, which is overseen by the 733rd Logistics Readiness Squadron Fuels Facilities, is expected to be completed in 18 months.
