The 1st Fighter Wing began embedding physical therapists from the 633rd Medical Operations Squadron in 2019 to address neck and back pain that fighter aircrews endure to help save time and provide preventative healthcare.

Senior Airman Luis Alvarez and Senior Airman Thomas Rentschler from the 94th Fighter Generation Squadron use cooling vests to keep their temperature down while repairing damages inside an aircraft hangar. In 2020, the 1st Fighter Wing at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va., and Air Combat Command's science and technology team took the lead to protect Airmen from the heat, using a battery-powered cooling vest. The cooling technology has increased productivity on the flight line by decreasing the amount of down time Airmen need to recover.
