Gen. Holmes gifts heraldic device to ACC
Gen. Mike Holmes, commander of Air Combat Command, discusses the story behind a sculpture called Ascending Day to his staff during a Sword Athena 2020 outbrief at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. In the 1920s, Brig. Gen. William "Billy" Mitchell bought 'Ascending Day' and he used it as the prize that went to the winner of an annual Air race that the Army Air Service hosted.
