Gen. Holmes gifts heraldic device to ACC

'Rising Sun' stands in the Headquarters Air Combat Command distinguished visitor lounge at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, August 21, 2020. 'Rising Sun' is a sculpture purchased in the 1920s by Gen. Billy Mitchell and used as a prize for flying competitions for 80 years. Eventually the statue was reclaimed by retired U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff, Gen. John P. Jumper, while he was serving as the commander of ACC between February 2000 and September 2001.
