71 RQS is first operational unit to receive fuel from KC-46A Pegasus

U.S. Air Force Senior Airman John Wheeler, 71st Rescue Squadron loadmaster, completes a hot pit refuel of an HC-130J Combat King II aircraft at Moody Air Force Base, Georgia, Aug. 24, 2021. Hot pit refueling occurs while aircraft engines are running, cutting down on ground time and allowing pilots to quickly return to aerial operations. The 71st RQS conducted an air-to-air refuel with a KC-46A Pegasus assigned to the 916th Air Refueling Wing, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina as the first operational unit to be refueled by the KC-46A Pegasus.
