    Refueling the deployed mission

    As aircraft quickly approach, the 28th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron KC-135 Stratotanker’s aircrew carefully complete the necessary checklists to ensure they can accomplish their mission of delivering fuel to U.S. and coalition forces and, in turn, enabling war-winning airpower.

    F-15C ICTs make a comeback

    While F-15C Eagles fly high securing U.S. CENTCOM’s skies, U.S. Air Force maintainers and crew chiefs from the 44th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron await the airframe’s arrival on the flight line below, anticipating the workload to come. After their touch down, the F-15s taxi to their respective area where the crews, with tools in hand, prepare to begin maintenance. They immediately get to work loading the aircraft with armaments, checking fuel levels and refueling the aircraft in order to get the jet back in the skies as quickly as possible while the engines are still running. Once all processes are complete, the F-15s are ready to take off and fly another sortie.

The area of responsibility has adapted to meet the needs of the mission in an ever-changing expeditionary landscape.     U.S., coalition continue to work together to defeat ISIS

    The Coalition Intelligence Fusion Cell provided intelligence support that enabled a coalition airstrike against the Islamic State on May 10, 2020. The airstrike was executed by a French Dassault Rafale fighter jet partnered with U.S. Air Forces Central Command. The strike targeted an Islamic State bed down location in Kirkuk Province, Iraq.

    Female Airmen deployed from Hill team up for historic combat launch

    Historically, Air Force fighter pilots and maintainers were male, but the future looks a lot different as more and more females join the ranks of these career fields and make history while they do it. Recently, Capt. Emily "Banzai" Thompson, an F-35A Lightning II pilot, deployed from the 388th Fighter Wing at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, made history as she flew in combat, making her the first female to do so in that airframe.
