    AUAB power projection: 1st ECEG “Loggies” enable construction across CENTCOM

    The 1st Expeditionary Civil Engineer Group manages and executes construction missions across U.S. Central Command’s area of responsibility, and thanks to the group’s logisticians, or “loggies,” equipment and engineers are able to move downrange. “Loggies” assigned to the group’s 557th Expeditionary RED HORSE Squadron, are vital in ensuring mission success at more than ten deployed locations throughout the region.

    UTANG Airmen far from home, bringing the fight

    Whether sailor or soldier, active duty or Air National Guard, an enlisted member or a field-grade officer, military members are part of something bigger, and regardless of status, everyone contributes to the mission of the United States. Far from home in a deployed environment, many components make up the complex, yet dynamic mission. Members of the Utah National Guard, also known as UTANG, are one of those key components here at Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates. These Airmen deployed from the 109th Air Control Squadron in Salt Lake City, Utah.

    Securing the High Ground with Partners

    U.S. Air Forces Central Command published its January Airpower Summary March 7. The year 2019 began with airpower supporting joint coalition and partner forces fighting violent extremist groups in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.

    Top ACC leaders visit Al Udeid

    Air Combat Command’s top leaders traveled to Al Udeid Feb. 11, 2019, to visit deployed Airmen and discuss ACC support to the U.S. Air Forces Central Command mission delivering decisive air and space power on behalf of U.S. Central Command for the security and stability of the region. Gen. Mike Holmes, commander of ACC, and Chief Master Sgt. Frank Batten, ACC command chief, began the visit by meeting with Lt. Gen. Joseph Guastella, AFCENT commander, and Brig. Gen Jason Armagost, 379th Air Expeditionary Wing commander, to learn more about the local mission and challenges deployed Airmen face in the region.

    Protecting the force day in and day out

    It takes Airmen from every base and job to execute the deployed mission at Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates. This same concept applies to the 380th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron’s Force Protection unit, where Airmen from every Air Force specialty code to help carry out the mission.

    Fuels lab keeps AUAB combat ready

    Airmen from the 379th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron fuels lab work around the clock to help aircraft deliver decisive air power in the Air Forces Central Command area of responsibility. As the largest fuel operation in the Department of Defense, Airmen from the fuels lab must work together to inspect various types of fuel including gasoline, diesel fuel and Jet Propellant-8 to ensure products are free of contaminants.

    Creech Showcases RPA enterprise to AFCENT leadership

    Lt. Gen. Joseph Guastella, U.S. Air Forces Central Command commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Shawn Drinkard, AFCENT command chief, visited Creech Air Force Base, Nevada, Jan. 16, 2019. Guastella and Drinkard visited different operational flying squadrons on base and the Persistent Attack and Reconnaissance Operations Center to get a hands-on look at how combat Remotely Piloted Aircraft missions are executed while also interacting with the Airmen who support them. Drinkard experienced what it’s like to fly a MQ-9 Reaper in a simulated environment, learning from experienced Airmen how they execute missions.

    ‘Eye in the sky’ surveillance at Al Udeid

    According to Air Force doctrine, air superiority requires basic freedom of movement – the ability to operate anywhere without opposition. Twenty three Airmen from the 727th Expeditionary Air Control Squadron, Detachment 3, here, enable this level of control, ensuring no aircraft within 240 nautical miles range of Al Udeid Air Base goes unseen or unidentified.

    Airmen learn with virtual reality

    When an Airman becomes a noncommissioned officer, they are entrusted with the duty of leading and mentoring junior enlisted Airmen, at times this includes conflict resolution. In partnership with Squadron Officer School, Airmen of the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing had the opportunity to participate in scenarios that tested their interpersonal skills. Through a virtual reality program, an Airman interacts with an avatar that is portrayed by an actor and has a pre-selected scenario that will test the Airman.
