    Creech Showcases RPA enterprise to AFCENT leadership

    Lt. Gen. Joseph Guastella, U.S. Air Forces Central Command commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Shawn Drinkard, AFCENT command chief, visited Creech Air Force Base, Nevada, Jan. 16, 2019. Guastella and Drinkard visited different operational flying squadrons on base and the Persistent Attack and Reconnaissance Operations Center to get a hands-on look at how combat Remotely Piloted Aircraft missions are executed while also interacting with the Airmen who support them. Drinkard experienced what it’s like to fly a MQ-9 Reaper in a simulated environment, learning from experienced Airmen how they execute missions.

    Beneath the Skies: Aircraft Maintainers

    One of the largest support structures here at the 332d Air Expeditionary Wing can be broadly defined as aircraft maintainers. This not only includes those individuals who perform pre-flight, thru-flight (where an aircraft returns from a mission then embarks on another mission within a couple hours) and post-flight safety and function checks, but also several “back shops” which specialize in a certain aspect of the aircraft’s function such as weapons, guidance or propulsion systems.

    The active duty 388th Fighter Wing and Air Force Reserve 419th Fighter Wing conducted a combat power exercise Nov. 19, launching dozens of F-35A Lightning IIs within a condensed period of time.

    Mike Pence: ‘Humbled’ to return to Nellis AFB

    Vice President Mike Pence left the humidity of the East to travel to the dry desert temperatures of the West for a morale visit with Nellis Airmen Sept. 7.

    Nellis first base to use Tele-ICU

    The Mike O’Callaghan Military Medical Center here partnered with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Tele-Intensive Care Unit (ICU) staff to work collaboratively with the bedside team to allow continuous monitoring of the ICU patients’ vitals when medical center providers are out of the room assisting other critical patients. The VA Tele-ICU center, located in the Veterans Integrated Services Network 23 (VISN 23) in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is now linked to the medical center ICU where patients’ bedside clinical data will be made available to ICU intensivists, nurses and medical technicians through non-recording cameras, video display, microphones and speakers. It has taken years of hard work to finally get this program to Nellis. They were selected as the first base to house this program in our ICU due to the size, skills, services and willingness of Team Nellis.

    AF band member offers resiliency with free guitar lessons

    In line with the Comprehensive Airman Fitness model, Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force Kaleth O. Wright says resiliency initiatives are a top priority for the Air Force. “A focus on resiliency ensures Airmen and their families are fully equipped with the necessary tools, support system and mentality to persevere through difficult situations while taking care of the mission, themselves and their families,” Wright said. For people looking to learn guitar without a huge investment, a Joint Base Langley-Eustis Airman may have an answer teaching free guitar lessons to help promote resiliency.
