    Hill Airmen return home after multinational exercises in Europe

    Aircraft and Airmen from the 4th Fighter Squadron returned to Utah this week after deploying the F-35A Lightning II to Europe a little more than a month ago. The squadron, compromised of active duty Airmen from the 388th Fighter Wing and Reservists from the 419th FW here, participated in Atlantic Trident 21, which took place at Mont-de-Marsan Air Base, France, May 17-28, and the initial stages of Falcon Strike 21 at Amendola Air Base, Italy.

    The change addresses feedback received since the previous guidance was originally published. Specifically, women voiced concerns over difficulty related to securing hair in a manner that does not extend beyond the head.

    Challenging Assumptions: ACC officer volunteers to improve Spouse Inclusivity

    It’s been a busy and exciting year for Capt. Alexandra Bissey, an Air Force officer serving as an air battle manager and the chief of weapons and tactics for the 16th Airborne Command and Control Squadron at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. She and her husband recently welcomed their first child, and Bissey is set to take on a fulfilling instructor position at the U.S. Air Force Weapons School at Nellis AFB, Nevada, later this Fall.
  • For nearly 20 years, everyone assigned to Expeditionary Detachment 2405/Task Force Crimson, worked to safeguard Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan, and the surrounding area. On June 7, 2021, the Office of Special Investigations paid special tribute to its Fallen Heroes and all who served at TF Crimson with the official End of Mission announcement. The TF Crimson team worked with Joint, Afghan, and international partners to identify, deter, and stop threats to Bagram Air Field. TF Crimson personnel supported Afghan partners in enforcing Afghan law and deterring terrorism. Throughout its history, TF Crimson proudly represented the best of what OSI brings to the fight. Upon mission stand-down, TF Crimson handed off its Force Protection responsibilities, ensuring that key U.S., Allied and Afghan missions continue securely and efficiently. (Courtesy graphic)

    Dec. 21, 2015, will always be remembered in the storied history of the Office of Special Investigations, as the date six OSI and Security Forces Airmen made the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of the Nation. For nearly 20 years, everyone assigned to Task Force Crimson worked to safeguard Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan and the surrounding area. On June 7, 2021, OSI paid special tribute to its Fallen Heroes and all who served at TF Crimson with the official End of Mission announcement.

    Mental health: Pushing past the stigma

    The wellness of service members is a priority across the Department of the Air Force, yet mental health has remained one of the most challenging components. Each service has struggled with an increasing number of suicides since the mid-2000’s. In 2018, there were 103 suicides among Air Force personnel. Despite efforts to improve the situation, such as the Air-Force-wide stand down, that number increased to 137 in 2019. The root of this issue could be the misconceptions about seeking help and outcomes to careers.

    Did you know that physical therapy is not just for restoring mobility or physical function following a major accident or catastrophic injury? Physical therapy is also a great tool to promote movement, reduce pain, and restore function by evaluating and treating musculoskeletal injuries early. Preventative treatment can be the key to avoiding future injuries or complicated surgeries.

    End of an era as final OC-135 aircraft officially retired

    The 55th Wing officially retired its final OC-135 Open Skies aircraft, tail number 670, during a ceremony at the Lincoln Airport June 4, 2021.
