Hill F-16 squadron celebrating 40 years of combat airpower, part 1
Forty years ago, the United States Air Force announced that the 388th Fighter Wing would be the first unit to transition to the F-16 Fighting Falcon, now more commonly known as the Viper. Thirty-eight years ago, the first operational F-16A took to the skies here and the Viper has been slipping the surly bonds of earth over Utah ever since.

Youngest maintainer at Red Flag launches America’s youngest jet
The future belongs to the young.
Nathan Kosters, the youngest F-35 crew chief in the 34th Aircraft Maintenance Unit, was born in 1996. “The Macerana” was No. 1 on the charts (somehow), “Independence Day” topped the box office and the F-16 Fighting Falcon had already been flying for 22 years.

F-16CM ACCIDENT REPORT RELEASED
An Accident Investigation Board found that an F-16CM Fighting Falcon suffered an engine hardware malfunction resulting in its crash into a rural area in the U.S. Central Command Area of Responsibility on March 29 2016.

Munitions Airmen: Key players during combat exercises at Hill AFB
Aircraft from several bases around the Air Force are here through August 18 to drop precision-guided munitions and employ air-to-air missiles on the Utah Test and Training Range during exercises known as Combat Hammer and Combat Archer.

F-35A combat readiness celebrated at Hill AFB
Hill AFB hosted a ceremony Aug. 5 in celebration of the recent announcement that the F-35A Lightning II aircraft is ready for combat.
Gen. Hawk Carlisle, the commander of Air Combat Command, declared that the fifth-generation fighter aircraft was "combat ready" Aug. 2.
During the ceremony, Carlisle lauded the aircraft’s performance and praised Airmen for getting the aircraft to initial operational capability.
