Colonel JOSEPH W. GOLDSMITH

Colonel Joseph “Dealer” Goldsmith is the Director of Staff for Air Combat Command, where he leads a 60-person executive support team for the commander and deputy commander. ACC operates more than 1,000 aircraft, 35 wings, 11 bases, and 1,348 units at more than 300 operating locations worldwide with 159,000 total force military and civilian personnel. When mobilized, the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve contribute more than 700 aircraft and 49,000 people to Air Combat Command.

Col. Goldsmith commissioned in 2003 as a Distinguished Graduate of the United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering. He graduated Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training at Sheppard Air Force Base then flew a short operational tour in the F-15C before transitioning to MQ-1 & MQ-9. 

Col. Goldsmith has extensive flying experience with 3200 total hours of which 2000 were providing Persistent Recon and Strike support to deployed forces. He was initial cadre for the 20th Reconnaissance Squadron and has deployed as a launch and recovery pilot and an Air Ops Center Liaison. On Air Combat Command staff, he managed RPA beddown actions then oversaw ACC Total Force Associations. 

While commanding the 62d Expeditionary Attack Squadron, Col. Goldsmith sustained airpower during COVID and retrograde operations. He then graduated Air War College with Academic Distinction and returned to ACC as the F-35 Requirements Officer and Commander of ACC’s Director of Staff. Col. Goldsmith is married to Susan, and they have a daughter, Riley, and two sons, Tyler, and Evan.
