Training the next generation of Air Traffic Controllers

U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Lisa-Marie McKinney, 20th Operations Support Squadron air traffic control (ATC) tower specialist, places a model plane on the static board in the ATC tower at Shaw Air Force Base, Oct. 31, 2023. The static board is used in conjunction with the simulator to train ATC tower Airmen to conduct flight instructions with pilots within a 5-mile radius of Shaw AFB, ensuring Shaw continues to complete its mission of suppression of enemy air defenses.
