MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- Deployments can be stressful not only for the military member, but also for the spouses and family members.

From the first notice about a deployment tasking to returning home, the Airman and Family Readiness Center will assist every step of the way.

“We offer a ton of programs for spouses, families and military members,” said Master Sgt. Raymond Parker, 366th Force Support Squadron NCO in-charge of readiness. “Some of the programs we have to offer are, but not limited to, Operation Heartlink, Give Parents a Break, Hearts Apart, Car Care because We Care, Pre-Deployment Brief and Reintegration Brief.”

For new military couples, Operation Heartlink is an opportunity for spouses to become familiar with military members experiences during a deployment and provide them with resources to help get ready for any upcoming deployments. It is held twice a year and is open to all spouses.

“This is a great way for spouses to get a little taste of what our military members go through,” said Tina Patterson, 366th Force Support Squadron community readiness consultant. “It’s fun and gets people out of the house and a chance to meet new people.”

Anyone with base access is eligible to sign up for the programs offered by the Airman and Family Readiness Center.

“We are always looking for ways to help support our Airman and families so if you have any ideas of how we can help, contact us, we are here to assist you with anything,” Parker said. “A lot of times we get caught up in our daily lives or we just want to try to push through while a member is deployed. These programs are here to assist families and Airmen to help relieve any stress and pressures we deal with daily.”
