U.S. Air Forces Central Command commander Lt. Gen. David Goldfein met with members of the Beale Military Liaison committee in Marysville, Calif., Jan. 26.

Although Goldfein's visit centered around MC-12W training, he took the time to brief the group of community leaders on the current in theater Air Force statistics and operations.

"My hope is to relate to you what the Airmen from your community are doing around the world; they are out there doing powerful work," he said. "Beale plays a huge role in our day to day operations providing intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance to commanders and troops on the ground... There is not an instant that goes by when that is not relevant."

During the hour long briefing, the general also took the opportunity to introduce a slideshow highlighting aspects of the Air Force mission including airdrops, personnel recovery, missile defense, airlift and refueling and close-air support.

Yuba City councilman and local businessman John Dukes said the one thing which stood out to him the most was the size of Afghanistan and the vast operations that take place so quickly.

"Just to hear how fast our Airmen can respond to a call for close air support, refueling or medical help anywhere in a country the size of Texas is amazing," he said. "It's an honor for General Goldfein come here and spend time showing these community members what we are supporting."
