Resiliency team opens 'Bounce' webpage Published Feb. 16, 2011 By Master Sgt. John Asselin Nellis Public Affairs NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- The Nellis Air Force Base Mental Health Resiliency Element opened a new web page designed to be a one-stop shop for information on helping resources Feb. 15. The vision for the web page, named "Bounce," is to promote balanced, healthy, self-confident people whose resilience enables them to excel in a time of high operational tempo. "The 'Bounce' web page is user friendly and aimed at not only active-duty members, but spouses, families, civilians and our retirees," said Lt. Col. Nadine Griffin, officer in charge of the Mental Health Flight Resiliency Element. "It provides not only links to resources and services locally and nationally, but it also provides information and education on a number of different topics such as suicide prevention, alcohol, depression, anger and stress." The foundation for the new web site started in July 2010, when the 99th Medical Group stood-up the Mental Health Flight Resiliency Element to help de-stigmatize mental health by making programs, resources and services more visible in community and work centers, Colonel Griffin said. The element consists of mental health providers, nurses and technicians who are armed with a mission to strengthen and empower people with the tools for improving life effectiveness through social, physical, spiritual and mental wellness programs in order to promote resiliency and overall comprehensive fitness. "The team recognized that there was a lot of information for helping resources out there, but navigating those resources and agencies can be overwhelming," Colonel Griffin said. "A parachute can be a life saving tool, but not if you don't know that it's there or how to use it. The same goes for helping resources that already exist. We don't need more information and programs; we just need to know how to use them effectively." "We realize that in today's Air Force we are doing more mission with less manpower and resources," said Tech. Sgt. Audrey Leos, noncommissioned officer in charge of the Mental Health Flight Resiliency Element. "It is important that we provide on-target mental health resources and services, giving our community the support they need to ensure personnel and family well-being and success of the mission." The 'Bounce' web site centralizes local and national helping resources available and most importantly, can link people with real time solutions. "Whether you're a commander, frontline supervisor, the most junior wingman or a family member, the 'Bounce' website is for you," said Col. John Degoes, 99th Medical Group commander. "This page on the Nellis website will offer one-stop shopping on information about resiliency in addition to helpful phone numbers of people who can provide help." The 'Bounce' web page is available on the Nellis public web site at http://www.nellis.af.mil/units/bounce.asp.
