The Air Combat Command Inspector General announced Oct. 20 that the 28th Bomb Wing received an overall satisfactory inspection rating in its operational readiness inspection completed Oct. 15. This satisfactory rating indicates the wing is able to meet its mission requirements and will not need to be tested again for another five years.

Operational readiness inspections evaluate the wing's ability to meet wartime and contingency mission requirements through three major graded areas including employing the force, sustaining the force, and ability to survive and operate.

"I'm immensely proud of the 28th Bomb Wing team, and the hard work our Airmen have invested over the past year to prepare," said Col. Jeffrey Taliaferro, 28th Bomb Wing commander. "This was an incredibly challenging scenario and we're pleased to have passed the test on our first attempt. More importantly, however, this inspection proves once again we are ready for combat in any situation -- to put bombs on target."
