ACC command chiefs discuss topics affecting Airmen Published Oct. 4, 2010 By Staff Sgt. Travis Edwards Air Combat Command Public Affairs LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. -- Command chiefs from various bases around Air Combat Command and ACC directorate chiefs came together at Langley Air Force Base, Va., to discuss the hot topics affecting ACC Airmen, Sept. 27 and 28. The ACC Command Chiefs' Conference included such topics as social media, Airmen suicides, physical training and the new deployment cycle to name a few. "This conference gave us the opportunity as senior enlisted leaders to discuss issues with Chief Klukas (ACC command chief) so he can share them with General Fraser (ACC commander)," said Chief Master Sgt. Rob White, ACC Directorate of Manpower, Personnel and Services chief enlisted manager. "Highlighting these issues focuses attention and resources on taking care of our Airmen and their families." Another highlight of the meeting was the top enlisted members' spouses assembling to discuss the unique issues that would not necessarily be seen at the senior leader level. The spouses' conference allowed spouses to get together and share the good things that are working at the wings and the other things need improvement within the wings, said Valerie Mackin, spouse of Chief Master Sgt. Oscar Mackin, the 505th Command and Control Wing command chief at Hulbert Field, Fla. "It's also a great way to network and meet other (command chief) spouses who are in the same position as you are," Mrs. Mackin said. The chiefs' conference allowed the command chiefs to meet each other and not only discuss the issues for individual bases, but also ACC as a whole. "This was a great opportunity to see how, strategically, the pieces fit together as we focus to develop our Airmen to meet the needs of the Air Force," said Chief Master Sgt. John Sanders, ACC Directorate of Communications enlisted manager. "Several of the briefs really opened my eyes both operationally and fundamentally on how we achieve the ACC mission. It was fantastic putting a face to the command chiefs at the bases we visit throughout the year." The next command chiefs' conference is scheduled to start April 17, 2011, in Omaha, Neb.
