The 4th Component Maintenance Squadron precision measurement equipment laboratory quality assurance performs 30 evaluations monthly.
As of January 2010, PMEL has a 100 percent pass rate.

If an Airman does not pass an evaluation, quality assurance performs a root cause analysis to find the cause of the problem after talking to the technician and his or her supervisor. Quality assurance also checks for foreign object damage and maintenance and self-inspections on a daily basis. If any items are found, they are reported to flight chief. Self-inspections include test equipment, housekeeping and safety violations.

Even though PMEL Airmen are stationed here, they receive their orders directly from Air Combat Command. They also report directly to ACC for the monthly quality report. The PMEL community as a whole receives their guidance from Air Force Metrology and Calibration, or AFMETCAL, located in Heath, Ohio.
