General Fraser shares first letter to Airmen

LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. --  Editor's note: Gen. William M. Fraser III assumed command of Air Combat Command Sept. 10. The following is General Fraser's first letter to Airmen.

Fellow Airmen,

It's a privilege to be back in Air Combat Command and join this team of professional Airmen at the heart of America's Global Power. As the vice commander of ACC several years ago, I was impressed by your abilities and dedication to serving our nation. Now, as your commander, it is an honor to lead our team in a time of war, when our work is more important than ever.

We live in a dangerous and unpredictable world, one where threats exist across the spectrum of conflict both overseas and at home; one where our allies, our joint teammates, and our nation look to America's Air Force to answer the call; and one where professional Airmen like you are making the difference. With these threats, our immediate focus in Air Combat Command must be on today's fight, delivering unrivaled combat capabilities to our combatant commanders. Because of the indelible role we play in our nation's defense, it's incumbent upon all of us to continue to be the finest combat air force in the world.

Our focus on winning today's fight means we must also continue preparing for the future through the sustainment and modernization of current systems and the fielding of new and innovative combat capabilities. The great work of our predecessors is what enables us to complete today's missions. It is now our responsibility to secure this command's future delivery of global power.

Over the next few months, I look forward to meeting with you and learning firsthand about the great things you are doing on behalf of our Air Force. As I do, you'll hear me speak about people, power and places.

· People: Ensuring we are doing all we can to take care of our Airmen and their families
· Power: Strengthening our combat capability in every mission area
· Places: Improving our operating environments and infrastructure

It is in these three focus areas that we will center our efforts, and how I will be continuously driving to improve our command. Together, we can make a difference for ACC and for our Air Force, but it will take a commitment from all of us to make our goals a reality.

Again, it's an honor and privilege to be back in the Air Combat Command family. Each and every one of you, military and civilian - active duty, Guard and Reserve, are critical to our success. You truly are Global Power for America, and I'm proud to serve with you.
