The U.S. Air Force announced June 26 its proposed force structure realignments for fiscal year 2010. This announcement reflects decisions to restructure and realign combat Air Forces and personnel to support current operations today and in the future within available resources.

According to Air Combat Command officials, this restructuring frees up needed funds now to achieve a smaller, but even more capable combat-ready force and enables ACC to realign select manpower positions to meet emerging and other priority mission requirements.

In this fiscally-constrained environment, the restructuring is a necessary action to ensure ACC can fully support today's joint fight while continuing to build future capability and train forces required for the emerging threats of tomorrow's fight.

The document includes a summary of the civilian and military personnel changes and movement of assets at Air Force bases for the upcoming fiscal year. It does not include previously approved and announced programmatic actions that have impacts in fiscal year 2010 nor does it include Future Years Defense Program data.

This announcement specifies the force structure changes experienced by the total force active duty, Guard, and Reserve. Final decisions on these actions will be made only after the appropriate environmental analyses have been completed.
