A captain with the 13th Intelligence Squadron recently received the Dutch Peacekeeping Medal for his contributions to the Global War on Terror while working under Dutch command in Afghanistan.

Capt. Justin Snider, 13th Intelligence Squadron Distributed Ground System-2 Analysis and Reporting Team officer-in-charge, served as the intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance liaison to Regional Command South at Kandahar Air Base, Afghanistan from November 2006 to May 2007.

Captain Snider was awarded the medal for his expert dissemination of Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance products in support of Regional Command-South operations. Some of his accomplishments include drafting RC-South collection requirements, educating task forces on Air Force ISR assets, advising on ISR tasking for operations planning and ensuring proper dissemination of thousands of intelligence products to the J2, J3 and individual task forces.

According to Captain Snider, on top of his ISR Liaison duties, he was "adopted" by a United Kingdom special operations team to direct the ISR collection for all of their operations.

"I worked with their commander, JTACs (Joint Tactical Air Controller) and team members on a daily basis and was a key player in multiple successful ops.

"Luckily, I have a pretty solid ISR background and was able to use my connections back here at Beale, and the CAOC (Combined Air Operations Center) in-theatre, on numerous occasions, to ensure we always took care of the task forces," Capt. Snider said.

The captain said he was very honored to receive the medal, however he credits Team Beale for his success.

"I am very honored to receive the award but most importantly I have to thank the hundreds of people here at Beale who helped me take care of business in-theatre. "I can honestly say that members from the 9th Reconnaissance Wing, 548th Intelligence Group and my home unit the, 13th Intelligence Squadron, definitely deserve praise for their role in supporting me during numerous RC-South operations," Capt. Snider said.
