More than 50,000 attendees entered Moody's gates Oct. 20-21 to watch Moody AirFest '07; a demonstration of Air Force capabilities and the 23rd Wing's mission.

According to Bob Hulstein, a veteran who served here from 1965-1969, many visitors left with a great impression of Moody and the quality of Airmen serving in today's military.

"The air show was so good on Saturday that I came back Sunday to watch it again," said Mr. Hulstein. "I was not only impressed with the air show, but the overall quality of the base and the Airmen representing it."

The show gave the public an opportunity to visit the base and witness first-hand the aircraft and missions Moody is responsible for, said 1st Lt. Adam Hawkins, 41st Rescue Squadron HH-60G Pave Hawk co-pilot.

"Taxpayers put a lot of money into our military," said Lieutenant Hawkins, who flew an a HH-60 during the Combat Search and Rescue demonstration. "The air show gives us a chance to demonstrate where the hard-earned money of U.S. taxpayers goes.

The air show was a resounding success, and all the performances and demonstrations went as planned, said Col. Kenneth Todorov, 23rd Wing commander.

"The performers were outstanding," he said. "I was very excited to see the CSAR demo performed by the 347th Rescue Group and the 23rd Fighter Group. It really showed the public the diverse missions and capabilities of Team Moody."

Although the performers get a lot of credit for the show's success, it's the Airmen working behind the scenes who really made the airshow come together, said Colonel Todorov.

"I'm impressed with our Airmen across the board," he said. "The attitude and professionalism of Team Moody was outstanding. We really put our best foot forward."
