Air Combat Command's top enlisted advisor leaves here Aug. 10 to take a new post with Air Mobility Command at Scott Air Force Base, Ill.

Chief Master Sgt. David Popp, ACC command chief since March 2005, is slated to become superintendent of AMC's Inspector General team.

Chief Master Sgt. Stephen Hutton replaces Chief Popp as interim command chief until Gen. John D. W. Corley names a successor. The Senate recently confirmed General Corley as a replacement for the current ACC commander, Gen. Ronald E. Keys, who's scheduled to retire this fall.

During their tenure at the command, General Keys and Chief Popp addressed myriad issues, including personal readiness, teamwork and enlisted professional development, the chief said.

"If we look at our support for the war today ... we'd see that our discrepancies on getting people to the right place at the right time ... has really improved," Chief Popp said.

The effort to improve readiness processes and mindsets, combined with the successful mobilization of the command's senior enlisted members toward common goals and a series of leadership seminars are three things the chief said he can "... kinda brag about, maybe."

However, the chief expressed the heart of his ACC legacy in the words left for the Airmen who serve the command in his footsteps: Stay focused, have a life plan, stay involved and take advantage of opportunities to improve the Air Force, and train successors.

"We've got to continue to focus on our training. This is the real world, the real game," he said. "Put on your game face and be ready to go."
