Air Combat Command will formally recognize its nominees to the Air Force's 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year at a banquet April 13 at the officer's club here.

"Airmen of Excellence" will be recognized in four categories: Airman, NCO, senior NCO and first sergeant.

Nominees come from across the command, including the Air Intelligence Agency at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas; the U.S. Air Force Warfare Center at Nellis AFB, Nev.; 1st Air Force at Tyndall AFB, Fla.; 8th Air Force at Barksdale AFB, La.; 9th Air Force at Shaw AFB, S.C.; 12th Air Force at Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz.; and Headquarters ACC here.

The command's 25 nominees will spend four days at Langley, meeting with senior leaders, soaking up information about ACC and taking part in other activities. The banquet caps off the week and will feature retired Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force Robert Gaylor - the fifth to hold that position - as the guest speaker.

Winners from the four categories will compete at the Air Force level, where a selection board will convene in late spring at the Air Force Personnel Center, Randolph AFB, Texas.

Tickets for the "Airmen of Excellence" banquet are available through Langley AFB first sergeants or base command chiefs. The cost is $25 for club members and $27 for non-members. The deadline to purchase tickets is April 6.
