CLEMSON UNIVERSITY, S.C. -- U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Gregory Guillot, Ninth Air Force (U.S. Air Forces Central) commander, visited Clemson University as part of the GO Inspire program on Mar. 10, 2022. GO Inspire, with the GO standing for “general officer,” is specifically designed for Air and Space Force generals to get out and engage youth and youth influencers from underrepresented groups across the nation.
Guillot met with numerous leaders and youth influencers across the Clemson campus, to include Air Force recruiters, the dean of the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business, and the head coach of the Clemson Tigers football team. He also had the opportunity to discuss the AFCENT mission and tenets of leadership with the baseball team and Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps Detachment 770.
This was Guillot’s second visit to student populations in the past year, the previous being in his hometown of Tucson, Arizona where he met with Junior ROTC cadets at Cholla High School and the University of Arizona.
GO Inspire events also closely align with AFCENT’s key priority of “Embracing Equality” to ensure all Airmen and specifically underrepresented members of the community continue to feel valued, while identifying ways to improve mutual understanding, quality of life and retention.
AFCENT is the air component of United States Central Command, a regional unified command. AFCENT is responsible for air operations, either unilaterally or in concert with coalition partners, and developing contingency plans in support of national objectives for USCENTCOM's 20-nation area of responsibility in Southwest Asia.
