PETERSON SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. - The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) headquarters hosted staff talks with Air Combat Command Aug. 18–19 to strengthen homeland defense integration, enhance information sharing, and identify opportunities for enhanced collaboration among the headquarters and forces.

The multi-day talks allowed senior leaders to focus on force presentation, Arctic air defense operations, and modernizing the aerospace control framework.

"Close coordination with Air Combat Command is foundational to the homeland defense mission," said Gen. Gregory Guillot, commander of NORAD and USNORTHCOM. "By synchronizing our operational requirements directly with the Air Force’s primary force provider, we ensure that combat-ready forces remain fully integrated and prepared to detect, track, and defeat any potential threat to North America."

The staff discussions focused on several key operational areas, including Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance requirements along the Southern Border and within the Alaska Theater of Operations, the modernization of Air Operations Centers, the deployment of artificial intelligence, and Air Base Air Defense concepts. Participants from both headquarters explored concrete opportunities to refine their tactical capabilities and improve joint command and control.

“The security of our nation depends on our ability to outpace our adversaries through technological and strategic integration,” said Gen. Adrian Spain, commander of Air Combat Command. “These direct talks with NORAD and USNORTHCOM are crucial to aligning our capabilities, integrating cutting-edge systems, and optimizing how we present forces. Together, we are fortifying our strategic approaches and ensuring our Airmen stand ready to defend the homeland with unmatched combat power.”

The talks conclude a series of planning engagements between the commands to coordinate information sharing and align force generation. Future training and joint operations will support ongoing campaigning and force readiness.
