Nellis Airman powered by innovation
This Regulated Emergency Oxygen System, or REOS, bottle in the F-16 Fighting Falcon Block 50 model, is the pilot’s emergency oxygen supply in the event the pilot needs to eject from the aircraft. Prior to Master Sgt. Shane Sneary’s idea, each bottle had to be replaced every five years at a cost of $1,400 to $1,800; now REOS bottles can be tested locally to prolong their lifespan, potentially saving the Air Force hundreds of thousands of dollars every year.
