Gen. "Hawk" Carlisle to assume ACC reins Nov. 4

Gen. "Hawk" Carlisle will assume command of Air Combat Command from Gen. Mike Hostage in a change of command ceremony scheduled for 10 a.m. Nov. 4, at JBLE.  The ceremony will be officiated by Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Welsh, III.

Hostage will retire from the United States Air Force after 37 years of service. Prior to his position at ACC, Hostage was the commander of U.S. Air Forces Central Command, Southwest Asia and the vice commander of Pacific Air Forces. Hostage is a highly decorated officer and a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Fighter Weapons School. He is a command pilot with more than 4,000 flying hours. He has flown combat missions in multiple aircraft, logging more than 600 combat hours in operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Southern Watch, Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and New Dawn. 

Carlisle will join ACC from the PACAF Headquarters at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, after serving as the commander for more than two years. While in PACAF, he was responsible for Air Force activities spanning more than half the globe and leading approximately 45,000 Airmen serving principally in Japan, Korea, Hawaii and Guam.  The general is also a command pilot with 3,600 flying hours in the AT-38, YF-110, YF-113, F-15 A/B/C/D, and C-17A.
