Air Combat Command officials recently announced the 432d Wing as one of four ACC units to receive the 2009 Meritorious Unit Award.

The 432d received the award based on numerous accomplishments between June 1, 2007, and May 31, 2009, to include executing 11,830 combat support sorties totaling 218,134 flight hours, and increasing combat air patrols from 11 to 34 directly supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom ground forces.

The Meritorious Unit Award is presented to Air Force units for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding achievement or service indirect support of combat operations for at least 90 continuous days during the period of military operations against an armed enemy of the United States.

"Congratulations to all of you for this tremendous award," said Col. Pete Gersten, 432d Wing and 432d Air Expeditionary Wing commander. "It is a true testament to the hard work you do for your country and your Air Force on a daily basis. I'm proud to serve with each and every one of you."

Personnel records should update automatically to include the Meritorious Unit Award; however, wing leadership encourages Airmen to ensure their records are updated and accurate to reflect the award.
