    The Airmen of the 325th Maintenance Squadron Munitions Flight, more commonly known as “Ammo,” operate with a high level of attention-to-detail and extreme care to handle, store, transport, and arm and disarm weapon systems to ensure the safety of Airmen and the success of their missions.
  • BDG showcases capabilities to 9th AF

    The 820th Base Defense Group showcased their abilities to leadership from the 9th Air Force. Airmen used vehicles, weapons, simulated detecting improvised explosive devices and secured hostile areas. This was Maj. Gen. Scott Zobrist's, 9th Air Force commander, first official visit to the 93rd Air Ground Operations Wing since taking command in May 2016. He was accompanied by Chief Master Sgt. Frank H. Batten III, 9th Air Force command chief.

    The whole country watched with bated breath as the threat of Hurricane Matthew loomed ever closer. U.S. military bases all along the East Coast, including Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina, weighed their options to evacuate ahead of Hurricanw Matthew.
  • Moody's EFAC supports Hurricane Matthew

    Moody Air Force Base has stood up it's Emergency Family Assistance Center offering shelter to DoD ID card holders needing to evacuate due to Hurricane Matthew. The EFAC has a 200-person capacity and is still available to accept more members requiring assistance. Individuals can bring their pets and any personal items they may require.

    Twenty-eight A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft evacuated to Tyndall Air Force Base Oct. 6 when they were ordered to leave their home base because of Hurricane Matthew. The aircraft are from Moody Air Force Base, Ga.
  • BASE REPOSITIONS JETS IN PREPARATION FOR HURRICANE MATTHEW

    Seymour Johnson Air Force Base is repositioning 41 F-15E Strike Eagles from the 4th Fighter Wing and six KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft from the 916th Air Refueling Wing today to Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana. The repositioning is a precautionary measure to avoid potential damage to resources as a result of Hurricane Matthew. Airmen will also prepare Dare County Bomb Range and the Fort Fisher Air Force Recreation Area for the anticipated impacts of Matthew.
  • Team Seymour tracks Hurricane Matthew

    UPDATE, Oct. 6, 9:30 a.m.: Hurricane Matthew is a strong Category 3 hurricane located 255 miles southeast of West Palm Beach, Florida, moving northwest at 12 miles per hour. Matthew will move into a more favorable environment over the next several hours and is forecast to strengthen into a Category 4 hurricane before encroaching on the Florida coastline. Matthew will move up the eastern seaboard and is expected to make an eastward turn late Saturday into Sunday and begin to move southward back toward the Bahamas on Monday into Tuesday. Based upon the current track, Fort Fisher is still expected to see tropical storm conditions and heavy rain with upward of 10 - 12 inches. Gusty winds and 4 - 6 inches of rain are expected here at Seymour Johnson. Localized flooding is expected in the area.
  • 355th SFS: a day in the life of a defender

    The 355th Security Forces Squadron mission is to protect, defend and fight to enable Air Force, joint and coalition mission success. Security Forces members are responsible for ensuring the safety of base weapons, property and personnel from hostile forces. The 355th SFS consists of over 300 military and civilian personnel.
