Airlift instructors modernize training for present, future conflicts
U.S. Air Force Maj. Justin Diehl, 317th Airlift Group chief executive officer, inputs flight information as part of C-130J training before take-off March 19, 2012 at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas. In the past, the training in the United States for C-130s didn’t match the routings and airdrop profiles that were being flown in Afghanistan or Iraq. Now, here at Dyess, training has been brought into the 21st century mirroring actual deployment tactics the pilots will face down range. This training supports current conflicts, but also helps 317th aircrews prepare to bring relief to nations in distress, such as Japan in 2011 and Haiti in 2010.
