Senior Airman Jason Cunningham, a U.S. Air Force pararesueman, was awarded the Air Force Cross during his first combat mission at the battle of Takur Ghar, located in southeast Afghanistan, March 4, 2002. He died while administering an IV to a wounded aircrew member. Langley Air Force Base’s dormitories are named after Airmen, like Cunningham, with records of exemplary and honorable service.
