U.S. Air Force Col. Don Godier, 20th Fighter Wing vice commander, presents Jack Van Loan, a former prisoner of war, with a 20th Fighter Wing plaque in appreciation of his service at the Shaw Air Force Base Theater, Sept. 27, 2011. Van Loan was held in captivity for approximately six years in North Vietnam after he was shot down on May 20, 1967. Van Loan was held until his release on March 4, 1973. Van Loan was the guest speaker for Wingman Safety Day and highlighted the importance of being a good wingman.
